“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20
It seems like such a long time ago that we first obeyed the Lord’s command to go out into “the world”. We have learned so much since then! Above all, we have learned that God has been true to His promise of being with us always. This has been so evident to us over the years and even more so as we are in the second stage of His command – “to teach them”. Not a day goes by that He has not walked with us and carried us through. What a privilege to see Him work!
The past few weeks have kept us busy! We have taught a total of 85 times. Most lessons are 2 hours long, and most of the time are well attended. We have had days that were so hot we burnt under the sun, a day when we taught in the dark because the power was out so we has to use our cellphone to see our notes, and days when sat around waiting for the sun to set so people would know it was time to come to the teaching. It has certainly kept us on our toes!
The Lord has blessed us so much through it all! Each time we get to teach, we are aware of how much He is teaching us through this process. It has been a joy to see peoples excitement at learning things that they have never heard. And each time they turn up for a teaching our hearts are encouraged knowing that it is another opportunity to share His truth. We are teaching through a difficult section at the moment because it will challenge them to go against traditions they have followed their whole lives. Our hope is that they will continue to come to the teaching and not stay away because the truth offends them. Only time will tell!
Please keep us in your prayers! We still have a few months of teaching left before we complete phase one. Please pray that many will come to know Him as their Lord and Savior!
In just a few days Valerie-Anne will complete her first year of College! We are so very proud of her. She has grown so much and persevered through so much! From juggling her first job running the coffee shop with her heavy assignment load, to really maturing in her faith, she had done us proud. In just a week she will be visiting us on the island for 2 weeks. We are so excited to see her again!
As I look back I am overwhelmed with the Lord’s faithfulness! He has provided for her every need, sustained her through difficult times and taken care of all the big and small details. He has been faithful in all things!
I can hardly believe that in just over 4 months we will be heading home on furlough. We are so excited to see many of our loved ones and to connect with the people who have partnered with us so faithfully over the years. If you would like to see us be sure to send us an email. We’d love to hear from you!
We are so thankful for those of you who faithfully pray for us and support our ministry!
We are blessed to call you partners in ministry.
